Our Trip To The Prestigious Fortnum & Mason

We recently had the pleasure of visiting Afternoon Tea award winner and renowned pillar of London dining, Fortnum & Mason. We were delighted to sample their fantastic new Afternoon Tea menus. Read on to discover which food items to look out for next time you visit.
With welcoming service and multiple enchanting floors filled with delight and wonder, every corner was brimming with new offerings and interesting decorations, capturing the imagination with vibrance and intrigue. Perfect for any lover of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, it was a true joy to explore each floor. The Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon, situated on the third floor, creates the ideal atmosphere for the array of food to come, with intricate wall patterns and elegant furniture.
Offering a variety of thoughtfully crafted menus, including Traditional, Savoury, and High Tea, Fortnum's offers a wide range of choices. Considering the carnivore in your life, the savoury Afternoon Tea may be the perfect option, or their High Tea selection, which allows customers to choose a main to accompany their Afternoon Tea, for diners refusing to go home hungry!
The traditional menu offers a range of classic sandwiches, including smoked trout, Cotswold Legbar egg mayonnaise, cucumber with cream cheese, coronation chicken, and Suffolk ham with English mustard, all providing excellent taste and variety.
The High Tea offers a selection of dishes to have alongside the traditional Afternoon Tea patisserie. Choose a silky lobster omelette, cooked to perfection, or maybe the most decadent Welsh rarebit you'll ever taste, featuring complementary creamy cheese and sweet, slow-cooked tomatoes and onions.
The Savoury menu offers truly impressive fare. Perfect for those who favour savoury over sweet, this selection of salty and umami flavours is sure to delight. Staying true to the savoury theme, Fortnum's has replaced traditional scones with innovative pea and sun-dried tomato versions, alongside a curated assortment of moreish treats as dessert alternatives. Highlights included their Goat's Cheese and Basil Mousse and Portland Crab Tart, both showcasing a perfect balance of bold, robust flavours and creamy richness.
The dessert selection, also featured in the High Tea menu, was a definite highlight, with light, fluffy sponges and creamy, decadent mousses. This course delivered some truly memorable moments, including their delightfully moreish blueberry and lavender tart and their visually stunning and tasty apricot bavarois with elderflower.
Overall, our visit was a truly exceptional experience, culminating in Fortnum’s being honoured with one of our prestigious Afternoon Tea Awards of Excellence for 2025. We sincerely thank Fortnum & Mason for providing such a warm welcome and delicious Afternoon Tea.
