Review: Bridgerton Afternoon Tea at The Lanesborough

by The AfternoonTea.co.uk Team

The Bridgerton Afternoon Tea at The Lanesborough is a Regency-inspired experience that will transport you back to the elegance of the early 19th century.

Located at London's Hyde Park Corner, The Lanesborough offers a charming backdrop for this special tea. As you step into the elegant tea room, you'll be greeted by the soft glow of chandeliers, casting a warm light over the elegant tables adorned with fine china. The ambiance is reminiscent of the regency era, where romance and intrigue abound.

Alongside the traditional tea served in dainty silver pots, there is also a 'Friends to Lovers' Cocktail, complimenting the experience. We went for the non-alcoholic blooming Wallflower which combines lemon and cranberry flavours, creating a refreshing and zesty sharp drink. Garnished with coconut, rose petals and a feather attached to a cherry it is quite the spectacle!

This sets the scene for the arrival of the three tiered stand, which arrives adorned with flowers framing the stunning patisserie and savoury selection lying beneath.

In addition to the delighful traditional finger sandwiches, there's an extra savoury canape: a Cream Cheese and Kale Tartlet: A savory twist on tradition, this tartlet combines creamy cheese with earthy kale. The flavours married together beautifully - this was a very pleasing addition to the first course of this beautiful experience. The sandwiches were made using more customary flavours, done very well - including truffled egg mayonnaise with watercress, poached cornfed chicken with chive and sour cream and smoked salmon and horseradish.

The scones steal the spotlight - I think they are some of London's best. Fluffy, buttery, and served warm, they are served with classic accompaniments: strawberry jam and zesty lemon curd.

Finally we indulged in my favourite course - the patisserie. Head Pastry Chef Pierre Morvan-Benezet has curated a delightful array of cakes and sweet treats, each paying homage to beloved Bridgerton characters:
The Social Butterfly sharing cake encompasses layers of cheesecake with a pistachio sponge and mandarin insert it is finished with an edible butterfly making it a delightful centerpiece - and maybe my favourite piece of the whole experience. It took me a lot to share!

The Book of Eloise was encased in a chocolate shell and filled with a delicate, fragrant vanilla and blueberry cheesecake. The chocolate piece had a salted caramel centre adding a hint of sweetness to the usually slightly bitter dark chocolate. Finally Lady Whistledown was a light grapefruit mousse filled with a raspberry heart and garnished with a white chocolate silhouette.

The Bridgerton Afternoon Tea at The Lanesborough is a such a beautifully opulent affair. Whether you're a fan of the Netflix series or not, it's a delightful way to immerse yourself in an elegant afternoon of indulgence.
