About

Maison François, the modern French brasserie and wine bar in the heart of St James will be celebrating the beginning of summer with the launch of their very own French-inspired afternoon tea. The arrival of afternoon tea comes with great joie de vivre, giving a French twist on the long-standing British classic.

Chef Partner, Matthew Ryle has designed a classic sandwich menu: oeufs mimosa with watercress served on seeded sourdough, cucumber and cervelle de canut, Vadouvan curried chicken on turmeric bread, and in ode to the long-standing French favourite, and a homage to the French classic, jambon beurre on granary bread.

Alongside the sandwiches comes a selection of pastries and cakes crafted by Executive Pastry Chef Jérémy Prakhin. Roulé à la fraise, Gâteau pistache et fleur d’oranger, Choux aux noisettes, and Entremet cacahuète et chocolat are all delicately placed on the stands, delivering the theatre of Maison Francois’s famed dessert trolley to the table. To follow, freshly baked Babkas, in two flavours: vanilla to be paired with quintessentially English strawberry jam and clotted cream, and chocolate and hazelnut for a distinctly Francophile chocolate and hazelnut spread.

Available daily from 2.30pm to 5.30pm, Afternoon Tea brings together the restaurant’s dedication to both British and French tradition whilst keeping the essence, character and flair of the classic brasserie at its heart.  - the Maison Francois afternoon tea offers a playful fusion of English and French traditions that stays true to the spirit of the grand brasserie.

François O’Neill, Founder of Maison and Café François says “We can’t wait to introduce afternoon tea to the restaurants, giving our own spin on this very British tradition. This is a first for us, and Matthew and Jérémy have worked incredibly hard to create a tea that is quite unlike any other. The essential elements are great sandwiches, sweet cakes and excellent Champagne, and ours has that and more!”
