Afternoon Tea Awards 2023 - 'Award of Excellence'

Did you know: The Square Mile (The City of London) is home to over 150 gardens and green spaces, offering a green escape amidst the bustling City. 

Discovery: All guests joining us for Afternoon Tea will be given an illustrated map and guided instructions to discover some of the Secret Gardens of the Square Mile, where they can uncover a hidden world of greenery nestled within the heart of the City of London. Guests can explore a unique blend of urban spaces and historic garden ruins. From the breath-taking heights of Sky Garden to the tranquil beauty of the Barbican Conservatory and centuries-old sanctuaries, this journey reveals a different, greener side of London’s bustling Square Mile. Each guest that joins us will be given a seed packet to take home and plant so they too can create their own ‘secret garden’.

At the start of the Afternoon Tea Experience, guests are invited to a "Tea Discovery Moment." Using the Newby Tea Collection book, they explore ten glass pots filled with a variety of tea leaves and botanical infusions, such as jasmine pearls, rooibos orange, Persian rose, and silver needles. Guests learn about tasting notes and how the selected tea pairs with the Afternoon Tea menu, creating a personalised and educational tea experience
